News Release           May 31, 2013                  News Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NBCAL Joins Pope Francis as the

Universal Church Prays

“For the end of violence”

On May 31, 2013 the NBCAL is outraged by the violence that surrounds our communities. and praised Pope Francis for his leadership in dealing with “the senseless acts of violence and abortion”. During the World wide Eucharistic Adoration Holy Hour called by Pope Francis “he is asking the dioceses and parishes throughout the world on June 2, 2-013 at the same hour to pray for the Church and for victims of violence, drugs, human trafficking, economic insecurity and social marginalization”.

Over the last 15 years we continue to intensify our efforts to live and preach the Gospel of Life by working with others to provide safe neighborhoods for families

With the support of 8 national organizations, a Catholic University, and 5 religious communities. as faith filled Catholics, we are resolved to live and preach the Gospel of Life. “As a people of life we are motivated by the words of Saint Francis of Assisi. “You must have peace in your hearts. Let no one be provoked to anger or scandal by you, but may they be drawn to peace and good will, to kindness and concord through your gentleness.” stated Father Jim Goode, OFM, President of the National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life.

We the NBCAL have made a vigorous commitment to do everything in our power to raise the issue and pray for the end of violence and abortion.  We live out this commitment annually in consecrating the month of June as “June is All Acts of Violence and Abortion Awareness”, which calls us to respond with compassion to those affected and effected by violence and the ills of abortion.

We stand with our Holy Father Pope Francis in prayer for the victims of violence and the pre-born assured in faith that prayer changes things. “For eye has not seen, nor ear heard what God reserves for those who love him” (l Corinthians 2:9).
