FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

2012 National Black Catholic Vigil for Life

October 6, 2012

15th Annual National Black Catholic Vigil for Life 2012

Saturday October 6, 2012 (First Saturday) marks the 15th year that the
National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life has sponsored the “National Black Catholic Vigil for Life” on the eve of Respect Life Sunday. The Vigil for Life affords us as African American and African Catholics an opportunity to gather in our various Archdioceses/Dioceses/Neighborhoods to pray for
an end to abortion and all acts of violence that destroys the dignity of human life.
The National Black Catholic Vigil for Life is also our prayer-preparation time for the
Eucharistic Sacrifice on Respect Life Sunday, stated Father James E. Goode, OFM,
President of the National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life.

Respect Life Sunday

Faith opens our eyes to human life in all its grandeur and beauty is the theme for
October 7, 2012 Respect Life Sunday presented by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops: Pro-Life Activities Office.

Every human being, at every stage and condition, is willed and loved by God. For this reason, every human life is sacred. Because we are created in the image of God, who is Love, our identity and our vocation is to love.
Pope Benedict XVI has called this “the key to our entire existence.”
