It’s All About Life

“NO MATTER WHAT…NO MATTER WHEN…
BLACK CATHOLICS RESPECT LIFE”

Thanks for the tremendous support in making the National Day of Prayer for the African American Family 2004  “JESUS WE SEEK YOUR FACE” a powerful – prayerful day in the African American Community.  From the feedback across the nation the day was truly a “Respect Life/Celebrate the Family Day”.  If your community did something special on that day, please share it with us.  You can forward your news to tnbcalife@aol.com or NBCAL 440 West 36th Street, New York, NY 10018

IN THE NAME OF LIFE OUR FAMILIES NEED US:

This week the Senate Budget Committee put forward a budget resolution that if enacted would likely result in cutbacks to Medicaid and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) while at the same time provide large tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.

The Senate resolution could result in $11 billion reduction in Medicaid spending over five years, which would force the denial of benefits to thousands of working families and other vulnerable Americans.  States would be forced to further reduce benefits and cut payments to hospitals and providers.

The resolution also could result in a $3 billion cut to the EITC over 5 years.
Low-income working families and individuals could have their EITC benefits delayed.  Individuals not raising children could loose EITC altogether.

Please contact your Senators immediately and urge them to vote against the Senate Budget Committee Resolution. Don’t let Congress continue taking from the poor and give to the rich.  IN THE NAME OF LIFE: Let us make our voices heard.

UP COMING EVENTS IN MARCH

Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS – Contact: the Secretariat for African American Catholics – National African American Catholic HIV-AIDS Tasks Force  www.usccb:saac.org   or your local OBM Office.

Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord: NBCAL is requesting Black Catholics to join other Pro-Life Groups, as we pray for the end of abortion and the sacredness of all human life on this day. www.blackcatholicsforlife.org

The National Black Catholic Apostolate for life
is not silent on the issue of abortion.

The killing of innocent lives is never justified, and will never be acceptable behavior in our community.  Every abortion ends life.
All life is sacred and must be protected.

As defenders of life we stand firmly on the side of life.
We are by word and example, praying, proclaiming, and promoting the Gospel of Life.
